          1921 - 2014

Edward John was born in Newark, New Jersey.  In the 1950s, Edward started a group of companies:  Hi-Temp, Tru-Temp and Steele-Treating. These businesses experienced a remarkable degree of success operating the largest and most modern heat treating facilities in the Midwest.  Edward later started other businesses in various industries and invested in a number of land development projects.  Throughout his 66 years of marriage to Dorothy, he gave back to the community, donating to many charities, foundations, educational institutions, and hospitals.  Today the Bridget Rose Foundation continues this tradition of giving.

Dorothy Rose was born in Carlstadt, New Jersey.  She enjoyed golf, bridge, Mah Jong, crossword puzzles and poker. Dorothy loved animals, and over the years, cared for horses, cats, dogs and a variety of birds. She had a keen understanding of the fine arts, loved painting, sculpture and crafts and was a symphony and opera buff.  Dorothy had a very large extended family to which she and Edward were notably generous.  She and Ed traveled all over the world many times. Her greatest wish was that the earth and all of its inhabitants and creatures would be treated with the highest respect. Her wishes continue to be honored at the Bridget Rose Foundation.
